FREE READ Þ eBook, ePUB or Kindle PDF î Susan SchildEw I really wish that I had started with the first book Linny s Sweet Dream List which I will be reading shortly so that I understand of Linny s backstory such as why she s been through two marriages already with both husbands six feet under at very young agesI feel that Linny tries too hard Between trying to come up with ideas to win Neal Jack s preteen son over to trying to be perfect at everything she does I do have to say however that I got a kick out of her inner monologueJack seriously annoyed me He refused to realize what a conniving bitch his ex wife Vera is and kept the nature of his relationship with Linny secret from his familyI seriously dislike his parents CeeCee especially So annoying kind of endearing at ties and someone who finds it hard to let the past stay in the as Rush amused me with his bartending skillsNeal Typical spoiled teenager who desperately wants his family to get back together I both wanted to throttle him for his treatment of Linny and hug him because he was caught between a rock and hard place that and because his mother is ust such a piece of workHaving said all that Ms Schild excels at developing her characters slowly reeling her readers in as we cheer on Linny laugh at the shenanigans and become exasperated Though I did find Linny annoying at times for having her head in the clouds she made me smile and cheer her on even in the face of adversityI look forward to reading the third and final book next year Sweet Carolina Morning is an endearing novel as Susan s first Linny s Sweet Dream List So many people will identify with Linny as she faces another marriage and prepares to take on the role of step mother to a young man who doesn t appear all too anxious for her to fill that position Linny forges ahead even though she has every reason to throw in the towel as she deals with an ex wife and her fianc s family Oh the drama It s fun poignant and delightfully entertainingReaders will love the depth of the characters their humor and frustrations as they deal with real life situations You will root for Linny to find true happiness If you haven t read Linny s Sweet Dream List you can still enjoy the ride of the second novel but I would advise everyone to pick up the first novel and appreciate Sweet Carolina Morning even Kudos to Susan Schild for a super second novel and I can t wait for the third in this series This is definitely Southern fiction you will adore I receive a free copy of this novel for an honest review Sweet Carolina Morning takes up Linny s story from the first book about her Linny s Sweet Dream List It is all about that pre wedding time as many know it is a time that can be busy lots of decisions to be made and tensions to be dealt withFor Linny that is exactly what it is She is going into her third wedding her two previous husbands having left her by dying Her new business is humming along but her relationship with Jack has turned a bit rocky The ex wife is certainly a burr that irritates
As She Not So Subtlyshe not so subtly to steer Jack and her son pre teen Neal away from Linnie However Linnie is working really hard to form a relationship with him But it is not all plain sailingAs well Jack s parents are something else and it could be said rather a challenge but maybe they will come round Jack himself is torn as his son starts to struggle in school Vera is ex wife is trying to say that it is the stress of the pending marriage of Jack and Linny At times I wanted to shake both Jack and Linny Jack because he seems to be ignoring Linny s needs and Linny because she is so anxious and hyper worried especially about her own mother who First Year Teacher: Wit and Wisdom from Teachers Who've Been There just seems to be having a ballSlowly plans for the wedding start to come together and while it might not be a traditional one it is promising to be memorable A crisis over Kate Linny s sister brings things to a head and everyone involved starts to do a little thinking and re evaluating and before you know it that happy blended family that Linny dreams ofust might be a possibilityI enjoyed reading on in Linny s story seeing what came next after the engagement the challenges the heart searching the ups and the downs I look forward to what might happen to her in the next book planned Sweet Southern Hearts Sweet Carolina Morning is Southern Fiction at its very best warm tender lighthearted and heartfelt Linny Taylor s life in Willow Hill North Carolina has not been an easy road twice widowed her second husband left her broke and broken hearted but she has rebuilt her life and is about to marry Jack Avery Jack is divorced and the father of a 12 year old son Neal and Linny has been putting her heart and soul into creating a new family with Jack and Neal But Linny has many obstacles to overcome for heart and soul into creating a new family with Jack and Neal But Linny has many obstacles to overcome for dream of a happily ever after to come true including future in laws who seem less than enthusiastic about Linny marrying their son and an ex wife who keeps insinuating herself into their lives Linny Jack Neal and all the other characters in this book are so full of heart humor and love that you will be rooting for all of them to get their own happy ending Sweet Carolina Morning is the second book in the Willow Hill series following the wonderful Linny s Sweet Dream List Although this book can stand on its own merits I encourage you to read Linny s Sweet Dream List first so that you can be introduced to the characters from the beginning of their story I m excited that there will be a third book in the future I can t wait to find out about these wonderful characters and where life will take them next I received a free copy of this book for an honest review. H and tumble background Or that his ex wife is suddenly back on the scene Or that Linny has yet to win over his son’s heart All these obstacles not to mention what she should wear when she walks down the aisle are taking the Revenge of the Land: A Century of Greed, Tragedy, and Murder on a Saskatchewan Farm joy out of planning her wedding Linny better find a way to trust love again or she might risk losing the one man she wants to be with forev. OtesIf she messed up in this newob he d be that troubled teen with the shaved head who sold pot and lived in their basement after he dropped out of school in tenth grade Linny uietly steamed She pictured Vera mincing as she walked up to accept the silver tennis trophy at the club awards dinner an endless piece of toilet paper trailing from her shoe Next a tragic hair flat iron malfunction leaving Vera looking like Big Bird as she stared bewildered at the hunks of blond tresses burned off in her hand Linny exhaled feeling better Those visualizations she d learned from that self help book could be so calmingI befriended my mother in law She shoots suirrels and fixes them for supper but thought I wasn t classy enough for JerryJerry s mother was a bible thumper who drove a April 16th: Virginia Tech Remembers jacked up PT CruiserHer mother s Buick was pockmarked with dents that Dottie swore were from people backing into it while she was innocently shopping at the Winn Dixie Linny winced inwardly picturing her mother laughing gaily while at the wheel of a humongousuggernaut of a motor home barreling down the road bouncing from one guardrail to anotherMy ReviewI adored this amusing and insightful story from start to finish Linny s story ust gets better with the second book of the series and I will be eagerly awaiting future works from this talented author The plot was relevant and entertaining while the writing was effusively detailed engaging cleverly insightful and humorous Ms Schild s characters were uirky flawed smart amusing and intriguing Linny remains one of my favorite characters as she is a smart and resourceful gal that uses movies and television shows as reference material while she navigates new waters as a future step mother to a geeky pre teen boy a boy who is currently testing the limits and pushing her buttons While watching the Brady Brunch for inspiration Linny laments that Carol Brady makes it look so easy but later has second thoughts and wonders if Carol Brady drinks Linny s humorous inner musings and her newly honed skill of using visualization as a coping mechanism are an endless source of amusement More please This is book 2 in the Willow Hill series It s best to read this series in order to best understand all of the charactersLinny is twice widowed and has started a new relationship with Jack the town veterinarian Their new engagement meets many obstacles and Linny isn t sure that she ll finally get her happily ever after There is Neal Jack s teenage son who continues to talk about how wonderful his mom is ack s parents who appear to be less than thrilled to get a new daughter in law ack s ex and her husband who was once Jack s best friend continue to talk trash about Linny For her part Linny is trying too hard to get Neal to accept her working to start a new business and hoping for happiness This book discusses serious issues but at times is laugh out loud funny especially when Linny is with her sister or her mom She is a great character and I was rooting for her throughout the
BookI Am Anxiously Waiting Foram anxiously waiting for continuation of Linny s story in book 3 in the series due to publish in January 2017Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review Review also found at received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review The expected publication data is August 2nd 2016This story tells the difficulty of starting over in a new relationship when there are other people Involved In Particular Children It in particular children It with the struggle of trying to gain acceptance and know you role when the children are not yours A very real challenge in today s societyWith that in mind I should have really enjoyed this story however I only found it meh There are two main reasons whyLinny and her sister were depicted as almost over the hill They were not even 40 years old While perhaps traditionally marriage and babies occurred at a younger age that is not the norm these days In today s day woman are getting married and having children at a much older age as they focus on their careers first This is the norm which made this story feel a little bit old fashioned Seriously 38 or whatever age Linny was is not oldMy second issue was Linny herself While I get that she was insecure due to her previous marriages she really came off to me as a little annoying with her insecurities The way she blamed Jack for everything when it was clear the issue was hers bothered me Anyone ever heard of the phrase communication is keyThat being said the story did have a good message and the writing was well done My issues with the story are about my own personal views as opposed to actual story and although I am usually able to set them when reading a story I was unable to this time This impacted my enjoyment of the story 2017 Update After reading the first book last month and taking part in the last book in this trilogy I decided to re read this book I still love it and still think that Schild is a gifted writer who knows how to keep you reading until the very end While I still find Neal to be manipulative this time around I realized how vulnerable he is as he feels that he should be loyal to his mother but wants to like and welcome Linny into the family I recommend this series to anyone who enjoys humorous contemporary romance If you prefer clean books this series would be a good one to read Disclaimer I received a review copy AKA an ARC of this book in exchange for my personal review as well as participation in the review tour All thoughts and opinions are 100% my ownAngie s Revi. Broke by her con man late husband Linny has struggled to rebuild her life from scratch Then she met Jack Avery the town’s much adored veterinarian And she’ s marrying him Everything should be coming up roses for Linny So why does she have such a serious case of pre wedding itters It could be because Jack’s prosperous family doesn’t approve of her roug. ,
I m back visiting Linny in book 2 of the Willow Hill Series and I m happy to see all her uirky family and friends are here too Twice widowed Linny has worked through much of her grief for husband 1 and anger about con man husband 2 and is open to starting a new relationship with Dr Jack the towns veterinarian They are early into their engagement and all is not romance and roses As the time to pick a wedding date approaches fears from their pasts cast shadows over their future Even though Linny is in Love and excited to marry Jack there is a big problem in the form of a Jack s teenaged son who Linny desperately wants to win over Linny has never been a mom before and being a Step mother is intimidating Then there are those other little problems with perfect perky Vera Jack s ex and her new husband Jack s former best friend and also with Jack s Country Club keeping up appearances mother CeeCee who still misses Vera Linny s not the only one going through big changes in Sweet Carolina Morning her sister and mom are starting new chapters tooThe author does a great ob of addressing real life concerns and keeps it light with doses of humor so that no matter the outcome I came away caring about everyone in the story Even though it s a novel I would recommend this book to anyone contemplating a blended family marriage Thank you Susan Schild for keeping the giggles coming looking forward to book 3 Sweet Southern Hearts Thank you also to Kensington Publishing Corp for the Advanced Readers Copy it s always a oy to find new talented writers Linny Taylor is back Her story continues where the first book Linny s Sweet Dream List left off Twice widowed Linny is about to get her happily ever after with her boyfriend Jack Avery Unfortunately things never run smoothly for Linny and they don t this time eitherJack s family is the big problem as his mother doesn t seem to like Linny very much Jack s ex wife takes every opportunity to badmouth Linny to his mother and Jack s teenage son Neal Neal s schoolwork begins to suffer Jack and Linny fear it s their upcoming nuptials causing Neal s problems Jack spends and time with Neal leaving Linny out in the coldTo add to Linny s troubles her mother meets a man on a cruise A man Linny is convinced is a con man but that s not all Linny s sister is about to have a baby but she s suddenly having marital problems Linny wants to be there to help everyone which is not an easy taskI urge readers to read the first book Linny s Sweet Dream List before delving into this one It gives you a clear picture of Linny and Jack s relationship and their individual histories You ll read about them in this book too but it s so much better to read both books together It s even enjoyableThis book oozes with southern charm as well as dealing with some very real issues Mixing two families together while trying to keep the peace is realistic It s not sugar coated in this story We learn the difficulties everyone involved experiencesI did think Linny should lighten up on her mother
and let her live a little she slet her live a little She s smart woman and can handle her own but her devotion towards her mother is touchingLinny and Jack s story doesn t end here There s a third book which promises to be ust as good as this oneFTC Disclosure The author and NetGalley provided me with a copy of this book to review This did not influence my thoughts and opinions in any way All opinions influence my thoughts and opinions in any way All opinions are my own First I have to start off by saying this is not my usual read Sometimes though ya ust need a break and want something different My thought was why not indulge in a book that contains a story filled with amusing witty characters and true to life circumstances That s exactly why I picked up Sweet Carolina Morning by Susan Schild and I wasn t disappointed I could feel myself smiling and groaning along with the characters as I read through all of their ups and downs while noting how realistic their situations were This is a story that will resonate with many readers leaving them with a been there done that feelingA bit about the storyin this second book of the Willow Hill Series a fictional town in North Carolina sweet Linny is doing what we all do navigating her world interacting with her family and friends After a rough start where s she s had to essentially re build her life all over again after some bad luck with the first two husbands she s found her true soul mate in Jack Avery He has a son Neal from a previous marriage and Neal tends to not be as enthusiastic about Linny as his dad Uh oh And neither do the in laws who still seem smitten with Jack s ex Vera Poor Linny is feeling in the dumps about this and on top of it all she s also got her Mama to worry over a sister about to have a baby and many worries with her business and pending wedding I was about to have a drink for her on behalf of all her worriesBut Linny is a real trooper She s got backbone and smarts She s funny too how about a little spritz of Pledge around the place Space Kid just when the in laws show up unexpectedly There s nothing like the smell of furniture polish to instill confidence in one s keeping the place up I loved itSweet Carolina Morning will warm your heart make you laugh and nod your head in agreement as Linny works out her personal issues As for Susan Schild s writing she s got this knack for making you feel like you re IN the story right beside the characters At times I wanted to talk to Linny Tell her uh uh don t you think that way Or you go girl These are characters to root for and especially Linny If you haven t added the book to your shelves you should Favorite Life down Southust got a whole lot sweeter in Susan Schild’s new novel about a woman whose happily ever after is about to beginwhether she’s ready for it or not Finally ust shy of forty years old Linny Taylor is living the life of her dreams in her charming hometown of Willow Hill North Carolina The past few years have been anything but a fairy tale Left.
