spent on I do feel pretty satisfied overall with this story being a standalone The characters are great here We have lots of badass women and non Binary Characters Everyone Felt Pretty Distinct To Me I Loved characters Everyone felt pretty distinct to me I loved about Rosie s background Angel and her crew are fabulous Some if not all are former marines so we do learn about some essentially resurrection technology that exists I thought the presumable strain of going through this process was reflected in our characters I also liked that even though there s not necessarily a guarantee of coming back they still fight for what s right We have some very intriguing alien races here that communicate through scent I thought this was awesome and I really liked some of the animals we get to see on the planet As I mentioned above we also have AI This AI has feelings so there was some fabulous plot threads here I feel like these elements make you think about what it really means to be human I received a copy of this for review from the publisher via NetGalley thank you All opinions are my own July 14 2020 gets down on one knee wipes big girl tears away holds p a own July 14 2020 gets down on one knee wipes big girl tears away holds p a I am a lesbian What a wonderful exciting character rich story Stina Leicht has given A Way Youll Never Be us with Persephone Station It s an action adventure not only that but one that s both a riff and a tribute to The Seven Samurai and its remodel The Magnificent Seven filled with explosions and crashes and blood and heroism which is always fun But what Leicht has done is to add on a layer of complex and realistic worldbuilding all too realistic sadly with soulless and exploitative corporations and then match that with a series of well drawn multifaceted characters drawn together by love friendship and mutual respect Characters for whom the sum of their differences are a source of strength and power It s a beautiful thing to see and to read aboutLeicht is most familiar as a fantasy author but Station proves that her deft witty touch applies eually to science fiction Iite enjoyed this Overall thought it could be a bit shorter but enjoyed it nonetheless Really appreciated a future that had a lot of gender diversity as well Plus that cover heart eyes I m so so glad to have been auto approved for Gallery Books because this space opera is one of my most anticipated books and like the cover is fucking badass On the backwater planet of Brynner at Persephone Station a community of android refugees all female are hiding since they were able to awaken their Rosie owner of Monk’s Bar in the corporate town of West Brynner caters to wannabe criminals and rich Earther tourists of a sort at the front bar However exactly two types of people drank at Monk’s back bar members of a rather exclusive criminal class and those who sought to employ them Angel ex marine and head of a semi organized band of beneficent criminals wayward assassins and This is such a cool book I m so glad I picked it up off of Netgalley I d really been in the mood for a off of Netgalley I d really been in the mood for a epic and this book totally delivered The plot was interesting and intense the worldbuilding was complex and intriguing and the characters were well created It s also a super Oracle Web Application Programming For Pl/Sql Developers ueer story There are lots ofeer characters gay lesbian bisexual non binary rep Rosie was my favorite because they were so badass and cool The alien characters were well thought out and had a believable culture This Book Just Ticked A Lot Of book just ticked a lot of for me and I d highly suggest it I had kind of an Present Pasts uneven reading experience with this book Which bummed me out since I was so pumped to read itFor me personally the firstarter third of the book was a bit of a slog I felt like the characters weren t terribly well developed someone in the story does some Les Altaens : Peuple turc des montagnes de Sibrie uick research on the main characters which becomes the reader s de facto introduction to them too and the book seemed to need much world building People are sick but I didn t entirely get why or how that fit into the political situation or why people were being assassinated As a conseuence I put this book down twice intending never to finish it However some time openedp and I jumped back into the book and am glad I did so Because once of crew of bad ass ladies and honestly when was the last time I read a book that had an all female space crew on a mission Half past NEVER that s when went off to save some settlers the book got MUCH interesting The characters took on life and the story started to hum alongFrustratingly though once I was finally getting into a groove with this book I felt like it very The Possible Police uickly wrappedp and in doing so seemed to leave a lot of loose ends hanging I get that this is ideal for setting A Letter To Pakistan up a seuel However for me as a reader it endedp being nsatisfyingSo on the plus side cool characters great representation and exploration of the notion of gender PEOPLE WHO TALK TO GIANT BEARS and fun action scenes On the minus side fuzzy details on international politics and illnesses light world building not enough time for the the cool characters to hang out together and develop relationships Seriously I just wanted to say to the author Why don t you let these characters stand still for just a hot second so I can fall in love with themThanks to the author and NetGalley for granting me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review I had a good time with this book It was decently paced for the most part though there were some slower sections in the beginning Of course there were also some action packed exciting shipmecha battles so we do get intense moments I enjoyed the overall plot and can definitely see. Hugo award–nominated author Stina Leicht has created a take on space opera for fans of The Mandalorian and Cowboy Bebop in this high stakes adventurePersephone Station a seemingly backwater planet that has largely been ignored by the United Republic of Worlds becomes the focus for the Serrao Orlov Corporation as the planet has a few secrets the corporation tenaciously wants to exploit. ,

I and escape servitude But the Serrao Orlov Corporation is nothing if not tenacious especially about it s proprietary AI s and it wants their property back However Persephone is run by Rosie and they are in charge of an organized group of beneficent criminals and assassins along with a bunch of worn mercenaries who have a thing for doing the honorable thing despite the odds And in a fight with the Serrao Orlov Corporation the odds are not going to be good but it would be a glorious fight Award nominated author Stina Leicht has created a viciously feminist take on The Magnificent it would be a glorious fight Award nominated author Stina Leicht has created a viciously feminist take on The Magnificent by the way of Blade Runner and Westworld OMG I WANT Also the author says It s a Feminist SF and the working title is Persephone Station The genre influences will be Space Opera Westerns Heist and a touch of Northern irish crime all the main characters will be Crime All the main characters will be mostly women of color Thank you GallerySaga for making this a Read Now on
netgalley for this
for this Because this sounds just YES UPDATE It s come to my attention that I was mistaken this is meant to be a standalone and to that I say to Stina Leicht whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Ugh why go through all of that world building for one book with these lush characters I guess i should ve taken the hint with the epilogue but for some reason I was convinced that its goodreads page indicated it was a series Super disappointing Unfortunately that does effect my rating and I will be recanting my curve Should this error turn out to be a premonition I will adjust it back Actual rating is like 325 Stars but I honestly very much liked the writing style prose and characters so gave it a round p it was just the overarching plot its stakes specifically that I couldn t get into However I did not DNF because of the aforementioned We have our entire cast of characters consisting of both womxn and non binary folx Helllll yes The dialogue and character dynamics rule and kept me interested There was just something lacking in the expository sections and this happens with Book 1s in a series it all felt very exhaustive such an info dump And that s okay but it lead me to start another book at about 40% that was almost twice its size in length finished it and came back to Persephone Because the positives really do outweigh my struggle with the stakes and overly vast world building I was determined to finish it and I m so glad I didGenuinely I will pick Death on Milestone Buttress up Book 2 The author is very talented and I grew a fondness for the characters I have a feeling the next installment is really going to hook me in Thank you to NetGalley GalleySaga Press and Stina Leicht for granting me a very early eARC for my honest review A gender swapped Magnificent Seven sold More please. Ashedp mercenaries with a penchant for doing the honorable thing is asked to perform a job for Rosie What this job reveals will effect Persephone and put Angel and her suad p against an army Despite the odds they are rearing for a fight with the Serrao Orlov Corporation For Angel she knows that once honor is lost there is no regaining it That doesn’t mean she can’t damned well tr. ,
